Well, another Fall Regularity Run has come and gone. Held on Sunday
October 1, weather is always a concern. Again this year we were
favoured with a mixture of cool temperatures and sunny breaks.
There was just a brief shower when the last participants were returning
from the run. A few people had to scramble to put up convertible
tops after enjoying nice top down runs. By the time lunch was
finished and the awards were presented, the sun had come out again for
the return trips home.
The run started and ended at The Mill Street Crossing Pub and
Restaurant in Acton. There was a good turn-out this year, with
some 25 cars and almost 60 people attending. Five E-types, a Mark
I and a Mark II sedan, XJS’, two X-Types, an XK8 and more recent sedans
from a Mk I XJ6 to an XJ8 rounded out a beautiful line-up of cars.
The route took the cars through Limehouse, Norval, Terra Cotta, Glen
Williams, just west of Belfountain, Erin and then through farmland
northwest of Acton. It was a mixture of twisty
roads and rolling hills
with a good view of the fall colours. The ever changing names and
numbering systems used to designate roads presented a challenge for
both the organizers and participants, when a single road is given three
or four names.
Competition was tight again this year. Only 10 faults separated
first from fourth place.
Joe and Pam Terbrack took
first place and the Rampant Crank trophy driving their XJS. With
only one time fault, they led the field with the fewest time
faults.
In second place, was
Tayten Yachuk, Aaron Perras and Susan Doyle in a XJ6. While their
time faults were more than either the first or third place teams, they
scored only nine question faults and this vaulted them into
second place.
In third place, with
a good solid showing on both time and question faults, was Dan Yachuk,
Gavin Doherty, Rita and Rebecca Yachuk in a VDP. In addition to
the Rampant Crank trophy going to the first place team, each team took
home an engraved vase and a bottle of wine.
For the first time in memory, we had a perfect 20/20 score - good for
eyesight, but not so good for the rally. Paul, the windows in the
Mk I must have developed some distortion to account for the score.
We are always amazed at how observant the participants are in finding
the answers to the many questions that are buried along the
route. The ingenious answers are really what makes us
chuckle when marking the question sheets. Here are some of the
interesting ‘guesses’ to questions asked along the route:

To those who made creative guesses, thank you for the chuckles!
A very hearty thank you is given to John Taglione for all his hard work
on the day of the event, to Connie Booth for helping out on the
registration desk and, of course, to Jeff Booth for presenting the
trophies. We would also like to thank the club for the engraved
vase that they presented to us for organizing the event. Last but
certainly not least, a hearty thank you is extended to The Mill Street
Crossing Pub and Restaurant for providing great food, a great setting
and for accommodating our needs.
