Taking home Third in XJS class made Bonnie's day. You can bet on
that. Bonnie manoeuvred a 1994 6.0-Litre Jaguar
to a Best Time of 52.422 seconds. With Bonnie are Slalom
Chairman Ross Hamilton and OJOA President Jeff Booth.
|
Don Kochan's all smiles. That's 'cause he's about to accept his
well-earned
First in XJS, with a Best Time of 49.422 seconds.
|
C'mon Fred .... is that a smile?? Well, it seems OJOA Vice
President Fred Hill did have a lot to smile about. He managed to
go home with the Leisurely Drive Award (54.423 seconds) with his
magnificent XJS. Fred, by the way, lent his car to two others for
the Slalom. Now THAT's sportsmanship!!!! Fred's award was a
high-quality die-cast model of a Jaguar XK120. It was British
racing green.
|
Now, speaking of die-cast XK120 models.... Isaura Medeiros also
took one (in silver) for being the Most Improved Driver at our Slalom.
|
That smiley person in the middle is OJOA mega-member Linda Smith.
Linda has just one a lovely Jaguar fleece sweater, thanks to Grand
Touring Automobiles, of Toronto. Members of the Slalom Committee
drew lots to see who was going to take home this lovely garment.
Linda wore it the next day.
|
OJOA Activities Director Michael Woodman has lots to smile about.
His activity that day earned him First in the XK8 class. Have a
look at his First Prize -- it's a specially prepared disc brake
rotor. Yes, it was unusual. Yes it was unique.
Yes it was creative. Yes it was appropriate. And yes, that
sucker was #!@&*% heavy!

What do you get when you mix a good-looking young man, a Jaguar XJS and
a Slalom course. Well, Mike Hutchinson ended up with Second
Place, with a Best Time of 49.849 seconds. It's worth
noting that everyody in this photo also competed. They also made
sure their hair was short, to cut down on wind resistance, ya know.....
|
PYLON MAN: Yes, that's our own auctioneer-businessman-Jag-nut
Nelson Burkhart, taking home one of those amazingly heavy CAST IRON
brake rotor First Place prizes. Nelson accepted the award for
...........
|
PYLON MAN REDUX: Yup, it's Nels' agin'. This time
he's claiming Second Place in the E-Type 6-cyl. class.
Nelson pulled in a Best Time of 48.193 with his fab '64 OTS.
|
Dad does good! That's Rob Hutchinson in the middle. Rob put his
V12 E-Type through its paces to land First Place, with a Best Time of
49.113 seconds. That's close to a second faster that his
son (one row above, left), who took home Second in XJS.
|
Ron Walker's smile says it all. Third Place with a
6-cylinder E-Type. Ron's Best Time came in at 53.589
seconds. He was so fast it turned his cap around....
|
Steve Sherriff accepts First Place on behalf of ......
|
Steve Sherriff on another lap around the awards table. This time,
Steve's accepting Second Place in L Class (with his X300 R), and a Best
Time of 48.805 seconds.
|
Hey, who's that guy with the award? It's none other than Slalom
Chairman Ross Hamilton himself, accepting Third Place in Z Class
(non-Jaguar) with his Best Time of 46.918. Ross was driving a car
he likes to describe as
a "Japanese Jaguar powered by Honda."
|
Hey, since we're giving out awards, why not give one to the lugnut on
the right. OJOA President Jeff Booth accepts his First Place in
Class F, with a Best Time olf 49.946 seconds. Jeff was amazed how
nimble his long-wheel-base Vanden Plas could be.
|
Ahhhhhh, the Last Lap. Sitting down on something that doesn't
move. Enjoying a cold one and talking Slalom.....
|
Slalom driving: It appeals to all generations and both genders.
|
Isaura, hubby Dan, and Mike ... who looks like he just dropped his
First Place trophy on his foot....
|
Hey, after we eat can we do more Slalom? It was just about this
time when motor vehicle collision occurred through those windows to the
back. One vehicle went under (yes, under) another one....
|
Some of the happy, tired, crowd.
|
Slalom Chairman Ross Hamilton toasts the day's
well-enjoyed success.
Cheers . . . next year's Slalom will be an even bigger success . . .
with YOU!
